Choice Neighborhoods Planning + Action Grant

In September 2019 the City of Omaha, Omaha Housing Authority, and Canopy South received the Choice Neighborhoods Planning + Action Grant (CNP) for the Southside Terrace – Indian Hill neighborhood.

Through this grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, we can leverage funds, develop strategies, and implement projects in the neighborhood. We will work with residents like yourself, through our community engagement process, to learn more about what you would like to see changed or what amenities you would like to expand. The feedback we receive will help guide our work and help us create a Transformation Plan that focuses on three key areas:

  • Invest in Housing: Replace distressed housing at Southside Terrace with high-quality mixed-income housing that is well-managed and meets the needs of residents and the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Invest in People: Improve the overall quality of life for people who live here by providing more support in housing, education, employment, health, and income.
  • Invest in the Neighborhood: Enhance neighborhood amenities and assets like schools, parks, businesses, and everything in between. This means attracting reinvestment to the neighborhood, improving safety, and providing residents with more choices.
